We’ve held ISO 9001:2015 certification for many years now, and frequently invest in new quality control equipment to ensure that each custom spring we manufacture meets the highest levels of specificity for our clients. Our ISO 9001:2015 certification is given because we have “established and maintains a quality management system for the manufacturing of flat coil, compression, extension and torsion springs, flat metal, and wire forming.”
ISO 9001:2015 certification
ISO 9001 certification is an international standard of quality management system, used in over 170 countries. Managed by the International Organisation for Standardisation in Geneva, Switzerland, our ISO (9001:2015) is not specific to spring manufacturing. Rather, many different kinds of businesses (including spring manufacturers!) can be ISO 9001:2015. The certifier doesn’t focus on the products, but investigates whether the business delivers quality and consistent results for its customers, and has a culture of learning and developing. According to the ISO, 9001 certification shows that the business is one where, “customers get consistent, good-quality products and services.”
Consistently meeting requirements
Obviously, when you’re producing springs for the medical or aerospace industries, a high level of precision and consistency is of utmost importance! And while we definitely deliver on the exact specifications of our most technical clients, our ISO certification shows that this extends to all of our work – no matter how small or big the customer may be. Whether we’re manufacturing custom springs or stamped forms, all of our clients can be confident that our products will meet their requirements on pieces 1, 17, and 5009. Consistent results is a key factor in achieving ISO 9001:2015 specification.
Constant improvement of processes and systems
The other half of ISO 9001:2015 certification is a process of constant learning and improvement. The evaluator determines if the business has a system for delivering consistent results, and whether that process is effectively applied and improved, in order to deliver the best possible results for the customer. Our quality control manual is available for any potential customers to read, and includes a range of external and internal issues that management play close attention to in order to always deliver on the highest quality products for our customers.
Applying ISO 9001:2015 in custom spring manufacturing
Our quality control processes stretch from the design phase, all the way through to the packing and shipping of your custom springs! However, a key part of the spring manufacturing process is our quality department, when our pieces are checked for faults and verified to ensure they meet our customers’ specifications. We have a wide range of tools in our quality department, including several different Nikon measuring microscopes and optical comparators. We pride ourselves on making sure we don’t send out anything that doesn’t meet the required spring specifications.
